"Wonder of Wonder": Jinan University Study Tour of Hong Kong and Macau

The study tour is one of the projects under the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Chair on World Traditional Handicrafts: Inheritance and Innovation, hosted by Prof. Chen Ping, Dean of the Academy of Cultural Heritage and Creativity, Jinan University. The project researches on the safeguarding, transmission and innovation of world traditional handicrafts. Through interviewing and filming on Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), 40 teachers and students from the Department of Network and New Media, School of Journalism and Communication, Jinan University, understood the development of ICH in Hong Kong, enhancing the interaction and exchange between the mainland and Hong Kong in terms of ICH safeguarding, inheritance and academic research.

Activity Highlights

Students from Jinan University conducted video interviews with the members of Joint Association of Traditional Hakka Unicorn in Sai Kung in Hang Hau, Hong Kong.

 

 

 

Students from Jinan University conducted video interviews with Mr. Hui ka-hung and learnt to create flower-lanterns.

 

 

 

Students from Jinan University experienced the Yu Lan Festival through the "Virtual Museum of Hungry Ghosts (Yu Lan) Festival" and a virtual tour on Sam Kok Mar Tou Yu Lan, the production of which is funded by the ICH Funding Scheme and hosted by Hong Kong Shue Yan University.

 

 

 

Ms. Ho Wai-yee, Head of Intangible Cultural Heritage Office, and Prof. Chen Ping, Dean of the Academy of Cultural Heritage and Creativity, Jinan University, shared and delivered speeches at the Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage Centre.

 

 

 

Students from Jinan University visited the "Lost and Sound Exhibition Series" at the Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage Centre.
