Talk on "Herbal Tea in the Community: Development and Transmission of Herbal Tea in Hong Kong" (Hybrid Format)

In association with the Hong Kong Museum of History

Hong Kong's food culture has been influenced by both localization and globalization. In terms of daily life, Hong Kong not only inherited the traditional culture of the Lingnan region, but was also deeply influenced by the ideologies of modern Western society, such as industrialization, consumerism and popular culture. This talk covers the transmission of herbal tea, by sharing findings about the production of herbal tea in traditional villages and the communities in the New Territories. It also explores Hong Kong people's perception of herbal tea after the Second World War, and examines the significance of herbal tea as part of the intangible cultural heritage of Hong Kong, and even the country.
