"Take a Closer Look at ICH" Fun Day cum Launching of "ICH Legacy: Passing on with Passions" Video

The first Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hong Kong was published in August 2017, which comprises 20 ICH items. The ten local items which have already been inscribed onto a higher threshold – the national list of ICH – were automatically included in the Representative List. They are Cantonese opera, herbal tea, the Cheung Chau Jiao Festival, the Tai O dragon boat water parade, the Yu Lan Festival of the Hong Kong Chiu Chow community, Mid-Autumn Festival – the Tai Hang fire dragon dance, the arts of the guqin (the craft of qin making), Quanzhen temples Taoist ritual music, the Hakka unicorn dance in Hang Hau in Sai Kung, and Wong Tai Sin belief and customs.
"Take a Closer Look at ICH" Fun Day will lead you to explore the ten local items on the national list of ICH with interactive and experiential programmes in four series: "ICH on Stage", "ICH in Foods", "ICH on Hands" and "ICH Embassy". Also, the video of "ICH Legacy: Passing on with Passions" will be launched on the event day. The video documents the messages and expectations of the forerunners of the bearer organisations of the ten local items inscribed on the national list of ICH, highlighting the significance of the young generation bravely taking up the torch to pass on the legacy.
