For three hundred years, the Hakka journeyed from their homeland in eastern Guangdong to the heart of the Lingnan region. 300 Years of Hakka Kung Fu is a journey through time, to explore the origin, development and future of Hakka martial arts. From humble beginnings in the mountains, Hakka kung fu evolved new forms through continuing interactions with neighbouring peoples, as they gradually moved from rural villages into urban centres. Through the lens of traditional and new media, this exhibition invites the audience to look into the past and meditate on the future.
