The Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Office has organised an exhibition for this year's Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival, showcasing traditional craftsmanship of lantern making under the theme "Lantern-lit ICH: Shining with Craft Under Moonlight". Veteran paper crafting master Mr Hui Ka-hung crafted fantastical scenes from bamboo strips. A giant rabbit holds the bright moon in its arms, while others play musical instruments and sing authentic nanyin (southern tunes). One rabbit is wearing a Chinese cheongsam and playing with a traditional lion dance-style lantern, while another is tasting sweet glutinous rice balls. Everything reveals the joy of reunion. Each lantern is a testament to the craftsmanship, showcasing Hong Kong's ICH items — paper crafting technique, nanyin (southern tunes), lion dance, Hong Kong cheongsam, and Guangcai (The Canton Famille Rose Porcelain) making techniques. This Mid-Autumn Festival, you are invited to visit the exhibition with your family and friends to learn about Hong Kong's traditional craftsmanship and performing arts under the bright moon of reunion.

The exhibition is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has long been promoting Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public to learn more about the broad and profound Chinese culture.
